Battery Maintenance

Battery Maintenance

It is important to check and service the battery regularly, since its ability to start the engine depends on its state of charge.

The load on the starter motor is greater during the winter, and the capacity of the battery decreases in cold weather, which demands a battery in good condition. Frost can ruin a discharged battery.

The water level in the battery must be checked at regular intervals.

The battery must be kept clean and dry to avoid getting dirt into it while topping up with distilled water and to prevent oxide build-up at the terminals.

To prevent oxidation, coat the join between the battery terminals and the casing with Vaseline.
