Removal
WARNING: All Saab 9-5 are equipped as standard with the SRS system which includes the belt tensioners.
Work In Accordance With The Safety And Handling Instructions: Technician Safety Information
1. Ignition switch in the OFF position.
2. Move the seat as far forward as possible.
3. Remove the seat belt fixing in the front seat by pressing the clip with a curved screwdriver, See image showing dimensions.
4. Pull off the B-pillar trim (fastened with clips) and lift the pillar trim up out of the air duct.
5. Remove the strap guide and pull the belt through the B-pillar trim.
6. Separate the connector for the belt tensioner.
7. Remove the inertia reel and belt tensioner, 2 nuts and 1 screw.
Replacement
WARNING: All Saab 9-5 Are Equipped As Standard With The SRS System Which Includes The Belt Tensioners.
1. Fit the inertia reel and belt tensioner, 2 nuts and 1 screw.
Tightening torques: Inertia reel 45 Nm (33 ft. lbs.)
2. Reconnect the connector for the belt tensioner.
3. Draw the belt through the B-pillar trim and refit the strap guide.
4. Refit the B-pillar trim.
Check that the carpet and sill scuff plate are covered by the B-pillar trim.
5. Fit the door sealing strips around the B-pillar trim.
6. Fasten the belt to the seat.
7. Then test with Tech2 as follows:
Connect Tech2 to the data link connector under the dashboard. Delete any trouble codes.
Turn the ignition off and on again. Wait at least 10 seconds with the ignition on.
Check whether a diagnostic trouble code is shown:
If a diagnostic trouble code is shown:
Carry out a fault diagnosis as instructed. See Testing and Inspection.
If no diagnostic trouble code is shown:
Fitting is complete. Disconnect Tech2.
