Fault Conditions




P0506

Idle Speed Control. Idling Speed too Low.







Fault symptoms
- CHECK ENGINE.
- Slow idling speed.

On-Board Diagnostics
Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous. But interrupted when fault criteria fulfilled and will not restart until next driving cycle.

Enable criteria:
- General conditions for this trouble code: Atmospheric pressure must exceed 72 kPa and the engine coolant and intake air temperature must exceed -7 °C.
- Engine running. Car stationary. Accelerator pedal fully released. Engine load lower than 150 mg/c. Idle speed control requesting greatest possible air mass per combustion.

Fault criteria:
- Engine speed is more than 100 rpm lower than the requested idling speed for 10 sec.

Dependents:
- P0501, P0502, P1230, P1530, P1531, P1532 and P1925.

System reaction to a fault:
- None.

OK report:
- Diagnosis performed once and fault criteria not fulfilled.

- Type III.

Diagnostic help
