1. Checking The Grounding Of Switches
Unplug the connector:
- H6-4
When done:
Go to step 2
2. Checking The Grounding Of Switches
Part 1 Of 2:
Part 2 Of 2:
- Connect test lamp 86 11 857 to B+ and pin 2 of the female connector.
- The test lamp should light.
Checking the wiring harness.
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and indifferent directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
Is the function correct?
NO
Go To Step 3
YES
Go To Step 4
3. Rectifying The Lead
Repair the lead between H6-4 pin 2 and the grounding point G41S.
When repair is complete:
Go to step 15
4. Checking The Fault Symptom
What function is faulty?
SPORT
Go To Step 5
WINTER
Go To Step 10
5. Checking Control Module Input With Open Circuit
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Contact TCM.
Test value Sport Switch (TCM)
The reading should be: OFF
Checking the wiring harness.
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and indifferent directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
Is the function correct?
NO
Go To Step 6
YES
Go To Step 7
6. Rectifying The Lead
Repair the lead between H6-4 pin 4 and control module pin 7.
When repair is complete:
Go to step 15
7. Checking The Lead From Switch To Control Module
Connect a jumper lead between pin 2 and pin 4 of the female connector.
Read value: Sport Switch
- Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and indifferent directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
The reading should be: ON
Is the function correct?
NO
Go To Step 8
YES
Go To Step 9
8. Rectifying The Lead
Repair the lead between H6-4 pin 4 and control module pin 7.
When repair is complete:
Go to step 15
9. Changing Components
- Change - Switch, SPORT.
When repair is complete:
Go to step 15
10. Checking Control Module Input With Open Circuit
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Contact TCM.
Test value WINTER Switch (TCM)
The reading should be: OFF
Checking the wiring harness.
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and indifferent directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
Is the function correct?
NO
Go To Step 11
YES
Go To Step 12
11. Rectifying The Lead
Repair the lead between H6-4 pin 1 and control module pin 22.
When repair is complete:
Go to step 15
12. Checking The Control Module Input With A Strapped Circuit
Part 1 Of 2:

- Connect a jumper lead between pins 1 and 2 of the female connector.
Test value Winter Switch (TCM)
The reading should be, ON
Checking the wiring harness.
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and in different directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
Is the function correct?
NO
Go To Step 13
YES
Go To Step 14
13. Rectifying The Lead
Repair the lead between H6-4 pin 1 and control module pin 22.
When repair is complete:
Go to step 15
14. Changing Components
- Change - WINTER Switch.
When repair is complete:
Go to step 15
15. Final Check
- Clear the diagnostic trouble codes in all systems.
- Carry out a functionality test.
Is the function correct?
NO
Go To Step 16
YES
