Parking Brake Shoe: Service and Repair

Replacement Of Handbrake Shoes
To remove





1. Remove the brake disc.
2. Remove the return spring on the rear.
3. Press out the cable holder out of the bracket and remove the cable from the lever.





4. Use 89 95 607 Brake spring tool to remove the return springs and 89 96 647 Tool removing handbrake spring to the retaining pin.
5. Remove the brake shoes, lever and adjustment.
6. Check the wear of the levers and the adjusting unit.

To fit





1. Position the brake shoes, lever and adjusting nut on the shield.
2. Use 89 96 647 Tool, removing handbrake spring to fit the springs to the retaining pin and 89 95 607 Brake spring, tool for the upper and lower return springs.
3. Fit the brake disc.





4. Hook the cable onto the lever, fit the cable in the cable holder and fit the return spring.
5. Adjust the handbrake.
6. Fit the wheels.
Tightening torque 110 Nm (88 ft. lbs.)
