SID message "TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING"

Background
The SID can display the message "TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING" due to bad contacts at grounding points G41S, G41P and G43.
Procedure
If an electrical fault is suspected, check the above grounding points. These are located behind the radio. G41S is on the left-hand side and G41P on the right-hand side behind the knee shield. G43 is to the right of G41P.
Important
Do not change the gearbox before checking the grounding points.
Driving conditions and load must be considered, for example, if the car has towed a trailer or caravan, or if the car has been driven on very hilly roads. If the car is subjected to such conditions, the quality of the transmission fluid must be checked. If the oil is dark brown or smells burnt, it must be changed.
Important
A mineral-based ATF oil of DEXRON III type must be used.
