Limp-Home Solenoid



To remove
1 Remove the engine cover.





2 Remove the cover on the throttle body pedal arm.
3 Undo the lower bolt (it may be difficult to reach), using a magnetic T15 bit.
4 Remove the rubber seal and unplug the connector.
5 Remove the upper screw.
6 Remove the solenoid. (Not available as a separate spare part)

To fit





1 Fit the solenoid.
2 Screw in the upper screw.
Tightening torque 2.5 Nm (1.8 lbf ft)
3 Spray the connector with kontakt 61 (part no.30 04 520). Plug in the connector and fit the rubber seal.
4 Tighten the lower screw (it can be difficult to reach) using a magnetic T15 bit.
Tightening torque 2.5 Nm (1.8 lbf ft)
5 Fit the cover on the throttle body pedal arm.
6 Put the engine cover in place.

IMPORTANT
On removal of the limp-home solenoid, the throttle body goes into mechanical limp-home mode. After fitting, the limp-home mechanism must therefore be reset.
