Checking the Leads Between the CM and the Components - I



Checking The Leads Between The Control Module And The Components





- Remove component: Lights switch.
- Remove component: Headlamp beam length adjustment switch
- Remove component: Switch, fog light
- Remove component: Switch for TCS OFF.
- Remove component: Lighting for front ashtray/cigarette lighter.
- Remove component: Heating and ventilation control panel





- Remove component: Switch for LH seat heating pad
- Remove component: Switch for RH seat heating pad
- Remove component: Switch for LH seat ventilation
- Remove component: Switch for RH seat ventilation
- Remove component: Radio switch A.
- Remove component: WINTER switch.





- Remove component: Lighting for selector lever position indicator
- Remove component: Switch for simultaneous closing central locking
- Remove component: Switch unit for electric window lifts
- Remove component: Switch for electrically heated rear seat.
- Remove component: Lighting for rear cigarette lighter.
- Remove component: Mobile telephone connector.
- Remove component: Hazard flasher switch









- Connect test lamp 86 11 857 to pin 2 of the hazard flasher switch's female connector and a good grounding point.





- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.





- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.





- Contact DICE.
Activate: Rheostat PWM Out (DICE) to 100 %





The test lamp should light.

Checking The Wiring Harness
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and in different directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.

Is the function correct?

NO - Rectifying the Lead

YES - Determining the Component Causing the Fault
