Replacing the Generator, V6




Removal







1 Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2 Relieve the tension on the belt tensioner and unhook the multigroove V-belt.
3 Remove the belt tensioner.
4 Raise the car.
5 Remove the right-hand front wheel.







6 Remove the wheel housing cover towards the engine bay.
7 Unscrew the hexagon screws on the belt pulley (not the center screw)







8 Remove the engine oil pressure sensor and plug the hole.
9 Remove the right-hand outer drive shaft, see ZZZZ.







10 Disconnect the generator connections.
11 Remove the generator air intake by pulling it upwards.
12 Press the motor assembly forwards and fit wedge 83 95 238 between the assembly and the subframe.







13 Unscrew the generator's two retaining screws and remove the generator via the right-hand wheel housing.

Refitting






1 Clean the generator securing points and electrical connections and apply them with Vaseline to prevent oxidation.
2 Secure the generator with the two screws.
3 Reconnect the cables to the generator.
4 Replace the generator air intake.
5 Remove the wedges between the assembly and subframe.







6 Replace the engine oil pressure sensor
7 Fit the outer drive shaft, see ZZZZ.
8 Secure the belt pulley with the six screws.
Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 lbf ft).
9 Replace the cover in the wheel housing.







10 Refit the belt tensioner.
Tightening torque: 40 Nm (30 lbf ft).








11 Refit the multigroove V-belt.


NOTE: Make sure that the belt is correctly positioned on all the pulleys.


12 Replace the right-hand front wheel.
13 Lower the car.
14 Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
15 Set the clock.
