Conditions



Fuel Pump Relay Circuit. No Voltage to Fuel Pump or O2S Preheating





Fault symptoms
- Engine fails to start.
- CHECK ENGINE.
- Misfiring before DTC is generated.

On-Board Diagnostics

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous. But interrupted when fault criteria fulfilled and will not restart until next driving cycle.

Enable criteria:
- Engine running. Main relay voltage exceeding 10V. O2S1 and O2S2 preheating active.

Fault criteria:
- More than 15 misfires. O2S1 and O2S2 preheating current below 10 mA for more than 1.5 s.

Dependents:
- None.

System reaction to a fault:
- None.

OK report:
- Enable criteria fulfilled and fault criteria not fulfilled within 60 s.

Fault handling: Fault Handling III, Other Emission-Related Comp. & Function
- Type III.

Diagnostic help
Fault diagnosis concerns electrical faults in connecting cables or in the relay.

Diagnostic tool functions related to this fault are:
- Activation of output for fuel pump relay.

NOTE:

Check the wiring
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at various points and in different directions to detect any intermittent breaks or short circuit in the wiring. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
