Crankshaft Position Sensor. No Input.
Fault symptoms
- CHECK ENGINE.
- Misfiring may occur before trouble code is generated.
- The engine will not start with permanent fault.
On-Board Diagnostics Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous. But interrupted when fault criteria fulfilled and does not restart until next driving cycle.
Enable conditions:
- Ignition in ON position. Immobilizer not active. Ignition key in ST position. Main relay voltage drops more than 0.8 V. Pressure in intake manifold drops more than 3 kPa.
Fault criteria:
- No voltage from crankshaft position sensor for 4 S.
Dependents:
- None.
System reaction to a fault:
- None.
OK report:
- Enable criteria for P0336 fulfilled and fault criteria not fulfilled within 60 S.

Checking the wiring
Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to detect intermittent breaks and short circuits. Observe the multimeter, diagnostic tool or test lamp during the check.
