Conditions

Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Circuit. Performance Problem.

Fault symptoms
- CHECK ENGINE.
- Engine speed drops slower than normal when the accelerator is released
- Possible misfiring before DTC is generated.

On-Board Diagnostics

Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous. But interrupted when fault criteria fulfilled and will not restart until next driving cycle.

Enable criteria:

- General conditions for this trouble code: Atmospheric pressure must exceed 72 kPa and the engine coolant and intake air temperature must exceed -7 °C.
- Test 1: Crankshaft stationary, even after ignition OFF. Car stationary. The difference in pressure between the other two absolute pressure sensors in the system less than 10 kPa.
- Test 2: Engine running. Engine speed above 1300 rpm. Engine load lower than 110 mg/c. Accelerator pedal fully released.

Fault criteria:
- Test 1: Sensor value deviates more than 15 kPa from atmosphere absolute pressure sensor.
- Test 2: Sensor value exceeds 50 kPa.

Dependents:
- P0336 and P0337.

System reaction to a fault:
- Purging blocked. Correction of the air mass/combustion for fuel calculation is blocked. Charge pressure adaptation is blocked and reset.

OK report:
- Test 1 and Test 2 performed once and fault criteria not fulfilled. Fault criteria for P0107 or P0108 not fulfilled.

Fault handling: Fault Handling III, Other Emission-Related Comp. & Function
- Type III.

Diagnostic help
Fault diagnosis concerns sensor fault. A very large vacuum leak can generate the DTC.

Diagnostic tool functions related to this fault are:
- Pressure sensor reading, in kPa. With the engine switched off, this reading should be the same as those for the other two pressure sensors. Permissible variance is 10 kPa.
