Odometer, Trip Meter Not Working

Fault symptoms
Incorrect display on odometer or trip meter.

Diagnostic help
The odometer or trip meter can be activated to display a row of 8s with the diagnostic tool. All display segments are then lit up and can easily be checked.

Checking the wiring harness
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at various points and in different directions to detect any intermittent breaks or short circuits in the wiring. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic instrument while carrying out this check.

Diagnostic procedure

1. Test odometer/trip meter
^ Connect the diagnostic instrument and contact the Main instrument unit.
^ Activate the odometer or trip meter with the diagnostic tool.





^ All segments should light up.





Is the function correct?
YES
^ Go to step 3.
NO
^ Go to step 2.

2. Test odometer/trip meter
^ Check the bulb in the instrument.





Is the function correct?
YES
^ Replace the display unit
^ Go to step 3.
NO
^ Change the bulb.
^ Go to step 3.

3. Final check
^ Clear diagnostic trouble codes in all Systems.





^ Carry out a function check.





Is the function correct?
YES
^ The steps taken to rectify the fault were correct.
NO
