Fault symptoms
The trip meter is reset each time the car is started.
Diagnostic procedure
1. Checking the power supply
^ Make sure that current is being supplied to fuse 17.
^ Connect a test lamp to fuse 17 and a good ground.
^ The test lamp should light up.
Is the function correct?
YES
^ Go to step 2.
NO
^ Repair or replace the lead.
^ Go to step 4.
2. Checking the fuse
^ Check that fuse 17 is intact.
Is the function correct?
YES
^ Go to step 3.
NO
^ Replace: Fuse 17.
^ Go to step 4.
3. Checking the power supply
^ Unplug the main instrument unit's 12-pin connector: (540)
^ Connect a test lamp to pin 7 of MIU K12 and a good ground.
^ Turn the ignition switch to ON.
^ The test lamp should light up.
Is the function correct?
YES
^ Go to step 4.
NO
^ Repair or replace the lead between fuse 17 and the main instrument unit.
^ Go to step 4.
4. Final check
^ Clear diagnostic trouble codes in all systems.
^ Carry out a function check.
Is the function correct?
YES
^ The steps taken to rectify the fault were correct.
NO
