2. Checking Control Module Input
Unplug the connector:
Main instrument unit 20-pin connector (540)
Go to step 3
3. Checking Control Module Input

Connect test lamp 86 11 857 to B+ and pin 18 of the female connector.
Go to step 4
4. Checking Control Module Input
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Contact TCM.
Activate WINTER Lamp (ON)
The test lamp should light.
Checking the wiring harness
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and in different directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
Is the function correct?
NO
Go to step 5
YES
Go to step 6
5. Rectifying The Lead
Rectify the lead between pin 18 on the MIU 20 pin connector and pin 7 on the TCM.
When repair is complete
Go to step 7
6. Changing Components
Check and replace faulty bulb.
When repair is complete
Go to step 7
7. Final Check
Clear diagnostic trouble codes
Carry out a functionality test.
Is the function correct?
NO
Go to step 9
YES
Go to step 8
8. Final Check
The steps taken to rectify the fault were correct.
Diagnosis is complete.
9. Internal Control Module Fault
Diagnosis of the fault code is complete.
