P0726 - Engine Speed Absent
Fault symptoms
CHECK GEARBOX warning lamp on.

Conditions
P0726: Engine speed above 7200 rpm for at least 10 seconds.

P0727: Gearbox input speed above 2000 rpm for more than 5 seconds and engine speed signal is missing.

Diagnostic help
The engine speed from the engine management system can be checked with the diagnostics instrument.

Check the wiring
Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the various leads. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic instrument while carrying out this check.
