Checking The Wiring Harness Between The Control Module And The DC Motor












- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
- Contact PSM.







- Clear the diagnostic trouble code.

Unplug the connector:
- Motor, legroom adjustment (357Da)

















- Connect test lamp 86 11 857 to pins 1 and 2 of the female connector.
- Activate the switch in both directions.
- The test lamp should light in both directions. Red lamp in one direction and green lamp in the other. (Note that if the seat is at an end position the motor can only be activated in one direction with the switch.)


Checking the wiring harness
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and in different directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.

NO - Rectifying the Lead

YES - Changing Components
