1. Checking The Switch's GroundingUnplug the connector H6-8
Connect test lamp 86 11 857 to B+ and pin 2 of the female connector.
Go to step 2
2. Checking The Switch's Grounding
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and in different directions to reveal intermittent brakes and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
The test lamp should light.
Is the function correct?
NO
Go to step 8
YES
Go to step 3
3. Checking the fault symptoms
Select the defective function
Switch SPORT
Go to step 4
Switch WINTER
Go to step 12
4. Checking The Lead From Switch To Control Module
Turn the ignition switch to the on position.
Contact the TCM
Read value:
SPORT Switch
The reading should be: OFF
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and in different directions to reveal intermittent brakes and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
Is the function correct.
NO
Go to step 6
YES
Go to step 5
5. Checking The Lead From Switch To Control Module
Connect a jumper lead between pins 2 and 4 on the female connector.
Read Value:
SPORT Switch:
The reading should be: ON
Is the function correct.
NO
Go to step 6
YES
Go to step 7
6. Rectifying the Lead
Repair or replace the lead between connector H6-8, pin 4 and TCM control module pin 7.
When repair is complete:
Go to step 9
7. Changing Components
Change switch SPORT.
When repair is complete:
Go to step 9
8. Rectifying The Lead
Repair or replace the lead between connector H6-8, pin 2 and grounding point G34P.
When repair is complete:
Go to step 9
9. Final Check
Clear the diagnostic trouble codes in all systems.
Carry out a function test.
Is the function correct.
NO
Go to step 11
YES

NO
Go to step 13
YES
Go to step 14
13. Rectifying the Lead
Repair or replace the lead between connector H6-8, pin 1 and TCM control module pin 22.
When repair is complete:

14. Checking The Lead From Switch To Control Module
Connect a jumper lead between pins 2 and 4 on the female connector.
Read Value:
WINTER Switch:
The reading should be: ON
Is the function correct.
NO

15. Changing Components
Change WINTER switch.
