Check fuse 12.

Replace the fuse.

4. Rectifying The Lead
Repair or replace the lead between the fuse 12 in the dashboard main fuse board and the brake light switch pin 3

Unplug the connector H6-8

Connect test lamp 86 11 857 to pin 5 of the female connector and a good grounding point.

Depress the brake pedal.
The test lamp should light.
Is the function correct?
NO

YES

8. Rectifying The Lead
Repair or replace the lead between connector H6-8, pin 5 and crimp j75.
When repair is complete
Go to step 12
9. Checking The Ground Lead

Connect a test lamp to battery positive (B+) and pin 6 of the female connector.
The test lamp should light.
Checking the wiring harness.
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and indifferent directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.
Is the function correct?
NO
Go to step 11
YES
Go to step 10
10. Changing Components
Change Microswitch gear selector lever
When repair is complete
Go to step 12
11. Rectifying The Lead
When repair is complete

Repair or replace the lead between connector H6-8, pin 6 and grounding point G34P

Clear the diagnostic trouble codes in all systems.
Carry out a functionality test.
