Test Charging the Battery












- If the battery has been severely discharged due to the lights or other consumer being left on, a low starting charge is required when recharging it so that the chemical process in the battery is initiated.
- If this is the case, start charging at a current of approx. 3A (it must not exceed 5A) for 24 hours or until the charge current has dropped to its lowest stable value.
- Gases start to form in the battery at 14.4V.

- A battery charger with pulsating charging current should be used if possible in the case above.
- Load the battery with about 200 A for 15 seconds by running the starter motor, for instance. Take a voltage reading on the battery at the same time.

Connect the test probes as follows:
Battery (1) B+
Battery (1) B-

Is battery voltage above 9.6 V ?

NO - Charging the Battery

YES - Continue with Test Charging the Battery







The battery is in good condition
