Wiring Harness, Boot Lid

Changing

NOTE: If the car is fitted with a radio other than a Saab original radio, check that the customer has the radio code before you begin work.

1 Disconnect the negative lead of the battery.
2 Remove:
- boot lid trim.
- LH side trim in luggage compartment.
- trim on LH C-pillar.
3 Unplug the connector behind the LH wheel housing.
4 Carefully mark the cables in the connectors.
Take the pins out of the connectors leading to the rear harness in the boot lid harness - otherwise you will not be able to pull them through the hole in the roof.
5 Remove the cable grommet from the roof by turning down a little of the headlining on the LH side and exposing the retaining lugs on the rubber grommet from the inside.

IMPORTANT
Be careful that the headlining does not get damaged or dirty.

6 Unplug the connectors of all the components.
7 Draw the wiring harness out of the cabin.
8 Carefully mark the cables and the connectors in the new harness.
Take the pins out of the connectors leading to the rear harness in the boot lid harness - otherwise you will not be able to pull them through the hole in the roof.
9 Run the new wiring harness the same way as the old one and fasten it in the same manner. Make sure that all grommets seal properly.
10 Plug the connectors to their components. In case of doubt, check against the wiring diagrams and component lists pertaining to the system you are working on.
11 Put the pins back into the connectors. Check against the marking of the old harness.
12 Refit the headlining, C-pillar trim, luggage compartment trim and boot lid trim.
13 Connect the negative lead to the battery. Reset the clock and program in the radio code if there is one.

IMPORTANT
Fasten the wiring harness correctly so that there is no risk of it scraping or rattling.
Check all rubber grommets to minimize the risk of leakage.

NOTE: Spray all the connectors with "Kontakt 61" to prevent corrosion; clean all the grounding points and apply Vaseline.
