Rear lights and numberplate lighting failure





Special Policy Campaign 159 00

Cars are to be rectified only after customer complaint.

Cars affected

Saab 9-3 3D/5D M98-M01 up to and including Vehicle Identification Numbers 12045681 and 17016702 (Viggen) respectively

Background

The numberplate lighting's metal cover may rub against the cables which can cause a short-circuit. The fuse cuts out and the SID unit displays the warning: REAR LIGHT FAILURE

Right rear lights and numberplate lighting fails. The SID unit displays the warning: REAR LIGHT FAILURE

79 74 637 Fuse 10A

Procedure

Before proceeding, check the appropriate box on the modification identity plate.

M98: Check box C3
M99: Check box F3 (new modification identity plate fitted in accordance with SI 801-2268).
M00: Check box C3
M01: Check box C3.

If the box is not marked, proceed as follows.

1. Change the tailgate's outside handle as described in WIS, Body - Doors and locks - Adjustment/Replacement - Handle, tailgate

2. Replace fuse 29 with a new one.

Marking the modification identity plate

On completion of the necessary rectification, box C3 on the modification identity plate must be marked for M98, M00, and M01 models, and box F3 for M99. If the work is carried out by the importer, mark the box with a "7". If carried out by the dealer, mark it with an "8".
