To Remove
1 Place the car on a lift.
2 Relieve the tension on the multigroove V-belt by compressing and locking the belt tensioner with a 3 mm Allen key.
3 Unplug the connector to the compressor located behind the right-hand headlamp.
4 Unscrew the compressor's ground cable and securing plate from the compressor housing.
5 Lift up the car and remove the front right wheel.
6 Remove the right-hand cover. Undo the front end of the wing liner and hold it to one side.
7 Remove the multigroove V-belt from the compressor.
8 Remove the driver using a 10 mm wrench and a support. Pull it off the shaft and lift it backwards in the wheel housing.
9 Remove the lock ring that holds the belt pulley and lift off the belt pulley towards the wheel housing.
NOTE: If the belt pulley sticks, knock it on one edge with a plastic hammer to loosen it.
10 Remove the circlip holding the coil and lift off the coil.
NOTE: If the coil sticks, carefully prise the coil with a screwdriver to loosen the guide pin from its groove.
To Fit
1 Fit the coil and locate the guide pin in its groove on the compressor housing. Check that all the leads are free.
Fit the circlip.
2 Fit the belt pulley and lock ring.
3 Place the shims in the driver and fit the driver onto the shaft. Tighten the bolt.
Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.3 lbf ft)
4 Check the play between the driver and the belt pulley with a feeler gauge.
The play should be 0.5 ±0.15 mm.
If necessary, adjust the play by changing the shims on the compressor shaft.
5 Mount the multigroove V-belt on the belt pulley and release the belt tensioner.
Check that the multigroove V-belt is located correctly.
6 Fit the front end of the wing liner and the right-hand cover.
7 Fit the front right wheel.
8 Connect the compressor ground cable and securing plate to the compressor housing.
9 Plug in the connector to the compressor lead behind the right-hand headlamp.
