Idle Speed Control. Idling Speed too High.
Fault symptoms
- CHECK ENGINE.
- Fast idling speed.
On-Board Diagnostics
Type of diagnosis:
- Continuous. But interrupted when fault criteria fulfilled and will not restart until next driving cycle.
Enable criteria:
- General condition for this diagnostic trouble code: Atmospheric pressure must exceed 72 kPa as well as coolant and intake air temperature must exceed -7 °C.
- Engine running. Car stationary. Accelerator pedal fully released. Idle speed control requesting smallest possible air mass per combustion.
Fault criteria:
- Engine speed more than 200 rpm above the requested idling speed for 10 sec.
Dependents:
- P0501, P0502. P1230, P1530, P1531 and P1532.
System reaction to a fault:
- None.
OK report:
- Diagnosis performed once and fault criteria not fulfilled.
Fault handling: Fault Handling III, Other Emission-Related Component & Function
- Type III.
Diagnostic help
If other codes have been generated, check whether fault diagnosis should start with any of them. Then, check whether the throttle is in limp-home mode and finally check whether there is an air leak after the throttle.
