Checking the Resistance of the Detonation Circuit

Checking the Resistance of the Detonation Circuit

- Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

Unplug the connector:
- Seat-belt tensioner, left (236D)
- Carefully check the belt tensioner connector for poor contacts, oxidization and pushed-out pins.

- Connect reference resistor 86 12 095 to the 2-pin female connector.

Unplug the connector:
- Control module, Airbag (331)
- Carefully check the control module connector for poor contacts, oxidization and pushed-out pins.

- Connect BOB to the wiring harness.

Take a resistance reading between
- 8 - Control module, Airbag
- 9 - Control module, Airbag

The reading should be 2 Ohm - 4 Ohm

Checking the wiring harness
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and in different directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.

Is the function correct?

NO - Rectifying the Lead

YES - Changing Components
