Procedure
Replace the shift lock solenoid using the following procedure:1. Remove the selector lever housing.
Important
When working on a dismantled selector lever housing, be sure to protect it from damage by laying it on a soft surface, such as a clean shop rag or a piece of foam rubber.
2. Cut the cable ties.
3. Remove the solenoid's pins from the connector (pins 5, 6 and 2).
Note
Note the location of the 3 pins in the connector.
4. Drill out the rivets securing the top and bottom parts of the gear selector housing with a 3 mm drill bit.
5. Separate the upper and lower parts of the selector lever housing. Undo the screws by the solenoid.
6. Detach the lever at the top of the solenoid and remove the solenoid.
To fit
1. Attach the solenoid to the lever.
2. Fit the solenoid's two screws.
3. Fit the two parts of the selector lever housing together.
4. Rivet the parts of the selector lever housing together.
5. Connect the solenoid leads.
6. Secure the leads with a cable tie.
7. Fit the selector lever housing.
