Starter Motor: Service and Repair
To remove
1 Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2 Remove the generator, see ZZZZ Replacing the generator, V6.
3 Disconnect the starter motor connections.
4 Remove the starter motor's upper retaining bolt. The easiest way to remove it is via the right-hand wheel housing using an extra long driver with torx 18.
5 Remove the generator's lower retaining bolt.
6 Lower the starter motor and lift it out.
To fit
1 Clean the starter motor mounting surfaces and electrical contacts, and apply them with Vaseline to prevent oxidation.
2 Refit the starter motor.
3 Reconnect the electric cables to the starter motor.
4 Refit the generator, see ZZZZ Replacing the generator, V6.
5 Reconnect the negative battery cable.
6 Reset the clock.
