Background
There have been occasional cases where the wiring harness has come too close to the ABS unit. Adjust the harness following the instructions on the following pages.
Cars affected
All Saab 1999 9-5 within VIN Serial No. Ranges: X3000853 - X3001441
Owner Notification
As much as possible, owners of affected vehicles will be notified by Saab Cars USA, Inc.
A VIN Status List will be supplied to you prior to any owner notification. If you do not receive a Status List, this is an indication that no affected vehicles have been sold to/by your dealership.

Procedure
1 Undo the MAXI fuse board from the main fuse box (quick fastener) and unplug the hood (bonnet) switch connection.
2 Remove the main fuse box by undoing the three nuts. Then, lift the main fuse box and move it out of the way.
3 Check the distance between the wiring harness and the ABS bracket in the area marked A in the illustration.
What is the distance?
Less than 5 mm: The wiring harness must be protected against chafing. Go to step 4.
5 mm or greater: No further measure need to be taken. Proceed with steps 6-8.
4 Adjust the wiring harness so that the thinner harness is above the thicker one and secure them to each other with a cable tie.
5 Press out the wiring harness towards the structural member and check that the distance between the wiring harness and the ABS bracket is at least 5 mm.
6 Position the main fuse box and tighten the three nuts.
7 Plug in the hood (bonnet) switch.
8 Press on the MAXI fuse board to the main fuse box.
Stamping the campaign plate
After taking these measures, box B2 on the campaign plate must be marked. Mark the box with a numeral "8" (Saab Special Tool P/N 0297713). If needed, order this special tool directly from Kent-Moore at 1-800-345-2233.
