Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair


To Remove





1. Remove the battery cover, battery and battery tray.





2. Disconnect the temperature sensor's cable.
3. Raise the car.
4. Remove the two bolts securing the cover.

NOTE: Place an oil pan under the transmission to collect the fluid that runs out

5. Unscrew the fluid temperature sensor.

Fitting





1. Screw the fluid temperature sensor in place.
Tightening torque: 25 Nm (18.5 ft. lbs.)
2. Refit the cover and tighten the bolts.
Tightening torque: 25 Nm (18.5 ft. lbs.)
3. Lower the car to the floor.
4. Reconnect the fluid temperature sensor's cable.
Secure the cable in the clip on the transmission.





5. Refit the battery tray, battery and battery cover.
6. Fill with transmission fluid, Texaco Texamatic DEXRON III (7045 EU, TL1863 US), to the correct level
7. Set the right time on the clock.
