Throttle Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair




Throttle cable/throttle cable adjustment





To Remove

1 Open the data link connector cover.
2 Remove the 2 screws from the data link connector.
3 Remove the 3 bolts securing the lower panel with air duct.







4 Unplug the connector for the floor lighting.
5 Lift out the lower panel.
6 Disconnect the throttle cable from the accelerator by sliding back the bush and removing it and the cable.







7 Remove the protective cap from the engine.
8 Withdraw the cable and its sheathing through the rubber bush in the bulkhead.







9 Disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body.
10 Twist the cable adjustment clip and withdraw the throttle cable sheathing.






To Fit

1 Grease the cable sheathing with non-acidic vaseline and, from the engine bay, guide it through the rubber bush in the bulkhead partition.
2 Pull the cable through from inside the cabin.
3 Hook the cable onto the throttle body in the engine bay. Fit the clip and secure it.







4 Inside the car, hook the cable onto the accelerator.







5 Remove the throttle adjustment clip. Adjust the play in the cable by holding the throttle cam in the closed position with one hand and pulling the cable through with the other until it is taut. Then slacken to the nearest sleeve groove. Fit the clip.







6 Plug in the connector for the floor lighting. Spray the connector with Kontakt 61, part no.30 04 520.
7 Fit and tighten the 2 screws in the data link connector.
8 Fit the lower panel (3 bolts).
9 Replace the data link connector cover.
