Main Lighting
Main Lighting
Main lighting comprises main and dipped beams, number plate lighting and parking lights.
It is turned on with the light switch in position 2 and the ignition in position OFF, ON, or ST. Switching between main and dipped beams is done with the dipswitch, the lever to the left of the steering wheel. With the ignition in position OFF, ON or ST, +X is supplied from the ignition switch to the X terminal on the light switch. When the light switch is turned to position 2, the power is fed to the main lights. The dipswitch control the headlamps in two different ways: flash, with the dipswitch in spring loaded position and main beam, with the dipswitch in a fixed position. In both cases the dipswitch is pulled towards the driver.
If the light switch is in position 0 or 1 (dipped beam) and the ignition is held in position ST, the dipped beam relay will release after 20 seconds.
When the light switch is in position 2, DICE outputs "Main lights ON" to the bus. The message is used by SID for "rheostat light.." DICE uses Rear lights RH/LH ON/OFF from TWICE to determine the position of the dipswitch.
The light switch positions operate different lighting modes depending on how DICE is programmed. There are 3 different program alternatives. The reason for this is that different markets demand different lighting modes. When implementing program alternative 1, fuse 35 must be removed.
The 3 alternatives are:
If main beam is on and the ignition is turned to position OFF, or if the light switch is turned to any other position, the main beam is switched off and must be turned on again.
