Tailgate Hinges, 5D

To remove







1 Remove the tailgate.
2 Remove the gas spring from the hinge.
3 Remove the bolt securing the hinge on the inside.
4 Remove the side supports.







5 Pull off the weatherstrip sufficiently to reveal the cover plates.
6 Remove the side cover plates.
7 Remove the upper cover plate.
8 Unscrew the two bolts on the outside of the body.







9 Lift out the hinge.

To fit







1 Put the hinge in position.
2 Screw on the two bolts on the outside of the body.
3 Screw in the bolt on the inside.







4 Lubricate the gas spring ball sockets with Gleitmo 805 (part no.30 06 442) and fit the gas spring.
5 Fit the tailgate.
6 Adjust the tailgate.
7 Fit the cover plates around the tailgate opening.
