Tailgate 5D
The tailgate has two gas lift springs located one on each side of the opening between the outer root and headlining. They are fastened to the hinge and root with ball pins. If the gas spring comes loose, e.g. in case of a collision, the front fastenings have a protector that prevents the gas spring falling down or being thrown forwards in the car.
The tailgate is unlocked electrically by pressing the tailgate button on the remote control or with the switch located in the driver's door. It can also be unlocked electrically by turning the key in the tailgate lock cylinder. When the key is turned in the lock, the microswitch closes and the tailgate is unlocked.
The switch in the driver's door will not work when the car has been locked from the outside, if TSL (Theft Security Lock) is active or when the vehicle speed exceeds 4 km/h. For more information on the tailgate central locking system, See Central Lock Operation, Tailgate 5D.
