CD Changer: Description and Operation
CD Changer
The CD changer is connected to the wiring harness and bus via a 12-pin connector.
The CD changer is activated by:
- pressing the CD button on the main unit if the CD player is active.
- pressing the CD button twice if the audio system is in RADIO or TAPE mode.
Function
The CD changer is powered separately (+30 circuit) from fuse 9 to pin 6 of the CD changer connector. When the audio system is activated, the CD changer reads the "wake-up" information from the bus on pin 5 and pin 11 from the main unit. The CD changer is then activated (switched on).
The sound signal (line outputs) from the CD changer to the main unit is supplied via:
- pins 3 and 8 for left channel
- pins 2 and 7 for right channel
The CD changer functions are controlled by commands from the main unit via the bus.
When the CD changer is active, information is transmitted to the bus. The SID unit reads the information and shows the current status on the display.
See Technical data, "Test readings, CD changer connections." Testing and Inspection
Control functions
To control the CD changer, the same control buttons are used as for the CD player. For disc selection, preset buttons 1-6 on the main unit are used.
