TC/ABS 5.3






Pump Motor. Defective
Fault symptoms
ABS, brakes and central warning lamps are on.
TCS OFF indicator lamp is on.
No ABS or TCS function.

Conditions
The pump motor is continuously monitored for open/short circuits. Pump motor test is conducted with ignition ON and wheel speed above 6 km/h (3.7 mph).

Diagnostic help
The pump motor can be activated using the diagnostic tool.
- Select "Activate"
- Select "Pump motor".
If the TC/ABS control module is not connected to ground (pin 16), diagnostic trouble code C2465 will be set.

Diagnostic procedure
1. Checking Control Module Grounding





Unplug the connector
^ Control module, TCS/ABS (547)

Go To Step 2

2. Checking Control Module Grounding

^ Connect a test lamp to B+ and pin 16.





^ The lamp should light.

Checking the wiring harness
Jiggle the leads and in-line connectors at several places and in different directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the wiring harness. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool while doing this.

Is the function correct?

NO
Go To Step 4

YES
Go To Step 3

3. Checking the lead





^ Check for an open circuit or shorting in the lead and connectors between the pump and the control module.

Is the wiring OK?

NO
Go To Step 5

YES
Go To Step 6

4. Rectifying the lead





Repair or replace the lead between pin 16 of the control module and grounding point G30.

When repair is complete
Go To Step 6

5. Rectifying The Lead





Repair or replace the lead concerned.

When repair is complete:
Go to step 6

6. Final Check





^ Clear the diagnostic trouble codes in all systems.





^ Carry out a drive cycle
Drive the car at varying engine loads and engine rpm for five minutes.

^ Evaluate the drive cycle:





^ Check that the diagnostic trouble code has not recurred

Is the function correct?

YES
Go To Step 7

NO
Go To Step 8

7. Final Check
The steps taken to correct the fault were correct.
^ Diagnosis is complete.

^ Diagnosis for this fault code is complete.
