Steering wheel controls. Open circuit/Faulty.





Fault symptoms
Steering wheel switch faulty.

Condition
Open circuit: resistance in the circuit higher than 8 kohm.

Diagnostic help
The steering wheel controls can be read using Tech 2.
The buttons (7 resistors connected in series) are supplied with +5 V from the SID. When a button is pressed, the resistor concerned is grounded and this produces the relevant voltage.

Check the wiring harness
Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to detect intermittent breaks and short-circuits in the leads. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostics instrument during the test.
