Brief Description, PSM System

Brief Description, PSM system
The PSM system (Power Seat Memory) is an integral part of the electrically adjustable driver's seat. PSM provides a memory function for the seat which allows the programming of 3 different seat settings which are then loaded automatically when the memory button concerned is pressed.

An electrically adjustable driver's seat with PSM has a control module and a switch with four buttons; 3 memory buttons for programming and one button for activating the memory.

Electrically adjustable door mirrors
The PMM system (Power Mirror Memory) allows the setting of the electrically adjustable door mirrors to be stored using the PSM memory function. The settings are stored in the PMM control module.

P-Bus And I-Bus

In the Saab 9-5, all the car's control modules are connected to the buses with the exception of the ABS and SRS control modules.

The buses are divided into the Powertrain bus (P-bus) and the Instrument bus (I-bus). Both buses are connected to the main instrument unit (MIU). The buses are electrically isolated from each other.
The P-bus has a data transfer rate ten times higher than that of the I-bus.

All information sent out by a control module is available to all other control modules connected to the bus. The MIU ensures that the information which is available on one bus is also available on the other.
