Tailgate 5D, Complete

To remove







1 Open the tailgate and remove the seals from the hinges. Remove the cable ducting by the hinges.
2 Remove the upper window cover plate.







3 Remove the D-pillar trim, root cover plate, load net holders, clips and the cover plates between the C and D-pillars.
4 Lower the headlining slightly. Make sure it does not bend.







5 Left-hand side:
Unplug the two connectors and disconnect the two ground cables.
Right-hand side:
Unplug the connector and disconnect the rear window washer line.
6 Unscrew the cable ducting on both sides and open them. Remove them from the cables.
7 Extract the cables at the hinges.







8 Protect the area between the root and the tailgate to avoid damage to paintwork and body.
9 Have a couple of assistants hold the tailgate and unscrew the four bolts securing the tailgate to the hinge.
10 Carefully lift off the boot lid.

To fit







1 Lift the tailgate into position and have a couple of assistants to hold the tailgate for you.
2 Adjust the tailgate. Tighten the bolts.
3 Insert the cables at the hinges.
4 Lay the cables in the cable ducting and close them. Screw on the cable ducting.







5 Plug in the connectors and connect the washer line and ground cables.
6 Hold up the headlining and fit the load net holders, roof cover plates, D-pillar trim and the cover plates between the C and D-pillars. Fit the window cover plate.







7 Fit the hinge seals and cable ducting to the hinges.
