System Overview, Turbo Engine

System overview, turbo engine (B204L/E/R)

Short description
The intake system consists of an air cleaner, connecting pipes and hoses, the turbocharger and charge air cooler. The intake system is connected to the throttle body.

The air consumed by the engine passes through the intake system where a filter cleans the air by removing dust particles from it.

The air cleaner also acts as an intake air silencer.

The turbo engine has a pressure sensor instead of a mass air flow sensor.

For further information on the turbocharger and charge air cooler, see "Turbocharger".

System overview, turbo engine (B235R)

Short description
The intake system consists of a resonator, air cleaner, connecting pipes and hoses, the turbocharger and charge air cooler. The intake system is connected to the throttle body.

The mass flow of air consumed by the engine passes through the intake system where a filter cleans the air by removing dust particles from it. The B235R engine is equipped with an extra silencing component, the resonator. The resonator, and also the air cleaner, act as intake silencers.

The B235R turbo engine has both a temperature sensor and a mass air flow sensor.

For further information on the turbocharger and charge air cooler, see "Turbocharger".
