Downshift Switch: Description and Operation

Kickdown Switch

The kickdown switch, located under the accelerator pedal, informs the transmission control module, on pin 37, when the accelerator has been fully depressed. The fully-depressed accelerator pedal activates the kickdown switch and puts 0 V (ground) on pin 37.

The control module uses the signal to control the shifting points so that maximum performance is obtained. The kickdown function is available in all shifting programs.
