New grease for inboard CV joint (tripod)
Cars affected
Saab 900 with tripod type inboard CV joints.

Background
For environmental reasons, a new grease, Mobile Grease K575GS, is being introduced in production on tripod type CV joints. The new grease can not be used together with earlier grease as a chemical reaction can change the properties of the grease mixture, resulting in inferior lubricating capabilities.

Procedure
All existing grease must be removed before applying new grease to tripod type CV joints. If the new grease is not available, the following makes of grease (not supplied by Saab Automobile AB) can be used on tripod type inboard CV joints: Mobile Grease GS57C or Quaker State Multipurpose Grease 50221. These makes of grease fulfill all the technical requirements but not the environmental ones. They can not be mixed with each other.
The outboard CV joints are not affected.
