Bleeding the Hydraulic Clutch System In the Car



Bleeding the hydraulic clutch system in the car
1. Unscrew the cap on the brake fluid reservoir.
2. Top up with brake fluid if necessary.





3. Open the bleeder nipple.





4. Connect brake bleeder 88 19 096 to the bleeder nipple.
5. Apply compressed air to the bleeder tool and bleed the clutch until fluid appears at the nipple.
6. Tighten the bleeder nipple remove the bleeder tool.
7. Fit 30 05 451 Adapter, cooling system tester on the brake fluid reservoir. Use two sealing rings 10-45 43 997 so that the cover is tight.
8. Hold the brake bleeder hose against the nipple and bleed the reservoir for about 1 minute or as long as air bubbles rise to the surface.
9. Check the function of the clutch and top up with brake fluid to the correct level.
10. Refit all components.


If The Slave Cylinder Has Been Changed Or Drained:
If the gearbox has been removed, see instead Clutch Slave Cylinder, Service and Repair.

1. Carry out steps 1 to 5 above.
2. Tighten the bleeder nipple.
3. Depress and hold down the clutch pedal.
4. Open the bleeder nipple.
5. Tighten the bleeder nipple.
6. Let up the clutch pedal.
7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 several times (6-7).
8. Check the function of the clutch and top up with brake fluid to the correct level.
