Background
TIS 2000 is a computerized system that will be supplied on new editions of the WIS CD. It is intended for programming control units. updating Tech 2 and to display/store snapshots. The software is for the Window 951NT4 platforms and is used in combination with the Tech 2 diagnostic tool.
With the introduction of TIS 2000, Tech 2 updates will now be made using "Software Download" in TIS 2000.
An authorized hardware key, P/N 86 12 558 must be connected at an open serial port before any software is downloaded to an ECM. Downloading cannot occur without a hardware key.
TIS 2000 has three different functions:
^ Service Programming System (SPS)
The Service Programming System is used to reprogram the car's various control modules. Control modules that are currently possible to reprogram are Trionic T7 & ACC.
^ Updating Tech 2
Software Download is a programming system for Tech 2 that enables Tech 2 software to be updated to the latest version or alternative language.
^ Snapshot Upload/Display
Snapshot Upload/Display is a program that provides the user with added features for saving and analyzing recorded test readings from Tech 2. More information on TIS 2000 is available in the Service Manual.

The WIS-CD and TIS 2000 Service Manual are supplied in accordance with current service information subscriptions.
System Requirements (PC)
^ Standard PC with TCP/IP protocol installed. Windows NT4 or Windows 95

^ Processor i486 DX2 66MHz (Pentium 90 MHz recommended)

^ Hard drive 200 Mb free disk space

^ One free serial port (for hardware key and Tech 2)
Installing
Make sure TCP/IP is installed. Insert the CD into the CD drive. Once the WIS update is complete, you will be asked if you want to install TIS 2000. Follow the instructions on the screen Service Pack 4 must not be installed on a computer with Windows NT4. We recommend using Service Pack 3.
Internet Explorer 3.02 will be installed automatically unless it has been previously installed. A minimum installation of Internet Explorer is sufficient for TIS 2000.
SPS
Brief description
In this case, Tech 2 operates as a data transporter only. Data is collected from the relevant system to Tech 2 first and then transferred to TIS 2000, which reads the data in order to select the correct software. Before the correct software can be selected, a number of simple questions must be answered in TIS 2000. The selected software is provisionally stored in Tech 2 before being downloaded to the relevant control unit in the car.
When must a control unit be reprogrammed?
A new version of a certain program always means that a number of errors and functions have been rectified. The main reason for reprogramming is to remedy customer complaints of functional disorders that can not be traced to a fault. The system must have been thoroughly checked and any defective components rectified before reprogramming is performed.
