Operation
Front
The movement of the spring on compression is limited by a specially designed stop on the damper piston rod. This stop ensures smooth damping of the oscillating movement of the spring, limiting stresses on the attachment points to a minimum.
The sports chassis is equipped with harder dampers and a thicker anti-roll bar to improve the handling and drivability of the car.
Front damper
The front dampers are of the gas-filled, twin-tube type. The space between the tubes serves as an expansion chamber. The damper is not an integral part of the MacPherson strut and can be replaced separately. The piston rod is well protected against dirt and moisture by a gaiter to ensure a long service life. The compression stop and gaiter form a single unit.
