Suspension: Description and Operation

System overview

The front wheels have independent suspension incorporating MacPherson struts. The struts work directly between the steering swivel member and the body and therefore act directly on the wheels.

Besides being space saving, robust and reliable, this system of suspension strut mounting also gives an extremely good insulation against road noise.

Long suspension travel gives good surface contact and high driving comfort. The springs and shock absorbers work in a 1:1 ratio with the wheels.

The steering is servo-assisted rack and pinion type.
