Steering Wheel: Service and Repair
To remove
WARNING: Read the Safety and handling directions for Airbag (SRS) before starting work.
WARNING: Never use the steering column adjustment to knock loose the steering wheel, as this will damage the impact joint.
IMPORTANT: Ensure the wheels are pointing straight ahead before dismantling begins.
1. Turn the ignition to OFF.
2. Remove the airbag from the steering wheel, 2 plugs and screws.
3. Lift out the airbag and unplug the connector.
IMPORTANT: As the steering wheel often comes away suddenly from the taper, there is a risk that the contact roller/wires will fasten on the steering wheel and be damaged.
4. Undo the steering wheel nut but leave it on the last few threads. Pull the steering wheel to this point.
5. Remove the nut and carefully lift off the steering wheel.
To fit
1. Make sure the wheels are pointing straight ahead.
