Customer Satisfaction Campaign 467: Checking the wiring harness for the side impact sensor
Background
It is possible that the wiring harness in the door can be damaged to to it being the wrong length.
On all vehicles within the affected VIN Serial Number ranges, the wiring harnesses in the door are to be inspected and replaced if found to be damaged in any way.

Saab 9-3 3-door models: X2000095 - X2005351
Saab 9-3 Convertible model: X7000063 - X7001724
Owner Notification
As much as possible, owners of affected vehicles will be notified by Saab Cars USA, Inc.
A VIN Status List will be supplied to you prior to any owner notification. If you do not receive a Status List, this is an indication that no affected vehicles have been sold to/by your dealership.

Note:
These water barriers may come without the required hole for the wiring harness. If so, use the old part as a template.
Procedure
Check box A1 on the modification identity plate before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box is not marked:
1 The ignition key must be in the OFF position.
2 Remove the tailgate opening button.
3 Undo the cover for the opening handle mounting and remove the handle.
4 Remove the cover for the door mirror.
5 Remove the cover on the door pull.
6 Undo the screws securing the door trim.
7 Pull off the door trim (fastened with clips) and lift it off the lock button.
8 Remove the water barrier carefully.
9 Undo the wiring harness fastening clip (second from rear edge).
10 Check whether the wiring harness has been damaged by chafing or pinching. If it is damaged it must be replaced, see 3. Electrical system, Wiring harness, Adjustment/replacement, Driver's door wiring harness and Passenger door wiring harness respectively. Otherwise, refit the clip and secure the wiring harness with an additional cable tie 25 mm from the branching point, see illustration.
11 Fit the water barrier.
Important
Make sure the water barrier is tight against the inner panel of the door and that it is not damaged.
12 Position the door trim.
13 Tighten the screws securing the door trim.
14 Refit the cover on the door pull.
15 Refit the cover for the door mirror.
16 Refit the opening handle and replace the cover for the handle mounting.
17 Refit the tailgate opening button.
Stamping the campaign plate
After the car has been inspected and/or modified, mar the campaign plate in position A1, using a numeral "8" (Saab Special Tool P/N 02 97 713). Order this special tool directly from Kent-Moore at 1-800-345-2233.
