Procedure

Rear seat belts

Start with the rear seat belts, as it is easier to see how to fit the strap guide guard on these belts.

1 Operate the soft top mechanism so that the roof is fully down (open) and the soft-top cover open.

2 Tip forward the rear backrest.

3 Remove the strap guide guard on the rear seat belt by lifting it up at the rear and pulling it away from the strap guide. Remove it from the belt.

4 Pull out the seat belt and check through the hole in the trim to make sure the belt is not twisted

5 If the belt is twisted, turn it the right way round and make sure it is the right way round along its whole length.

6 Make sure the belt is running freely and is not damaged. If the belt is damaged, it must be changed.

7 Fit a new strap guide guard onto the belt.

8 Place the guard so that it fits against the front of the strap guide and press down at the back.

9 Repeat this procedure on the other side and raise the backrest.

Front seat belts

Replacing the front strap guide guard does not entail removing the side trim as the guard can be replaced through the opening in the strap guide cover.

1 Insert the hook on special tool 89 95 607 through the belt opening so that the bottom edge of the strap guide is accessible.

2 Press up the strap guide guard with the tool.

3 Place the hook against the outer edge of the guard and pull the guard out of the strap guide. Remove it from the belt.

4 Pull out the belt and make sure it is not twisted. Shine a lamp through the belt opening while pulling out the belt.

5 If the belt is twisted, turn it the right way round and make sure it is the right way round along its whole length.

6 Make sure the belt is running freely and is not damaged. If the belt is damaged, it must be changed.

7 Fit a new strap guide guard onto the belt.

8 Insert the guard so that it fits against the front of the strap guide and press down at the back with the ring on the tool.

9 Repeat the procedure on the other side.

Stamping the campaign plate

After taking these measures, box B3 of the campaign plate should-be marked. Mark the box with a numeral "8" (Saab Special Tool P/N 02-97-713). If needed, order this special tool directly from Kent-Moore at 1-800-345-2233.
