False diagnostic trouble codes in airbag system (SRS)

Cars affected

Saab 9-3 M99 up to and including VIN X2027727

Background

On occasions, the AIR BAG lamp may go on without the presence of a permanent fault in the airbag system. Apparently, the fault can be insufficient crimping of cable lugs in the electrical harness between the control unit and the seat connector. Diagnostic trouble code B2863 or B2868 will then be generated.

In case of complaints from customers, proceed as follows.
