General Precautions

Welding
Disconnect the battery's negative cable and cover it when welding.

Painting
Before painting, cover the ground connections and weld bolts in the SRS control module retaining bracket to ensure the integrity of the control module's ground connection.

Electrical work
Electric cables in the airbag system must not be spliced. Splicing can be the cause of system malfunctions which could result in injury or render the system unserviceable.

Work on the car body
If work on the car body involves hammering and other impact, the ignition switch must be in the OFF position.

Work on the steering gear
If any work is carried out while the contact roller is fitted and the steering column shaft is not connected to the steering gear, the steering wheel must be secured in position so that the basic setting of the contact roller is not disturbed.

WARNING: If the basic setting of the contact roller is disturbed, the spiral conductor in the contact roller will break when the steering wheel is turned to full lock. The airbag will then fail to work in the event of an accident, with the consequent risk of serious personal injury.

When repairing crashed cars
When repairing crashed cars, it is important to ensure that the right components are checked and replaced to avoid any doubt as to the reliability of the car after the repair.
